Sharon Leal Debuts First Music Video; Beyonce a Fan of the Artist

Queen Bey is impressed! Actress Sharon Leal — who played Michelle Morris in Dreamgirls — is adding singer and songwriter to her list of talents by releasing the first music video from her upcoming solo EP, LEAL, for her song “Giant.”

“When on the set of Dreamgirls, even Beyonce wondered why Sharon Leal didn’t have an album out already,” Paul Becker, the music video’s director and choreographer and Leal’s longtime boyfriend, tells Us Weekly. “Well, here it is.” (Becker is also the co-choreographer for Disney’s upcoming musical Descendants alongside Kenny Ortega.)

Leal drew inspiration from her latest film role in Addicted — which she stars in alongside Boris Kodjoe, Kat Graham and Tyson Beckford — to pen “Giant” and included clips from the film in the music video. In the film, Leal plays Zoe Reynard, a family and career woman who begins an affair that could be fatal.

“Sharon started on Broadway as a singer and acting just took over,” Becker explains of his leading lady’s many talents. “Now she is back to her roots.”
